AN ACT CONCERNING NONEMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION FOR MEDICAID RECIPIENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 17b-276 of the general statutes is amended by adding subsection (c) as follows (Effective July 1, 2016):
(NEW) (c) The Commissioner of Social Services shall evaluate nonemergency medical transportation services provided to medical assistance recipients for cost-effectiveness and service to medical assistance recipients. Not later than July 1, 2017, the commissioner shall report, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a, to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to human services on: (1) The number and nature of complaints filed against the current provider of nonemergency medical transportation for calendar year 2015; (2) the number of medical assistance recipients who failed to appear for a nonemergency medical transportation appointment for calendar year 2015; (3) cost increases for nonemergency medical transportation in the five-year period commencing with calendar year 2011; and (4) recommendations concerning procurement of nonemergency medical transportation services.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
