AN ACT CONCERNING THE SALE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT BADGES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 53-341a of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2012):
(a) No person, firm or corporation may sell or offer for sale a badge or shield that identifies the wearer as holding a specific office, title or position with a state or local government or the federal government unless the purchaser presents valid identification, and a letter signed by the agency head of the state, local or government agency that oversees the person or persons holding such office, title or position, that indicates the purchaser holds such office, title or position at the time of such sale.
(b) Any person, firm or corporation that violates the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
