AN ACT CONCERNING FUNDING FOR THE TURN IN POACHERS AND LOBSTER RESTORATION PROGRAMS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2016) (a) Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 490 of the general statutes, any charitable contribution paid in lieu of a fine for any hunting or inland waters fishing violation shall be remitted to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for the purpose of funding the Turn in Poachers program administered by the wildlife division of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

(b) Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 490 of the general statutes, any charitable contribution paid in lieu of a fine for any marine waters fishing violation shall be remitted to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for the purpose of funding the lobster restoration program established pursuant to section 26-157d of the general statutes.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To direct charitable contributions paid in lieu of certain hunting and fishing fines to be used for the purpose of funding the Turn in Poachers and lobster restoration programs of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
