AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION AND FOR-PROFIT DELIVERY SERVICE COURIER COMPANIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subdivision (5) of subsection (a) of section 31-222 of the general statutes be amended to ensure that the provisions of chapter 567 of the general statutes shall not apply to services performed by the operator of a motor vehicle transporting property for compensation pursuant to an agreement with a contracting party if (1) the motor vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating in excess of ten thousand pounds, or (2) the service is provided to a for-profit delivery service courier company as defined in the June 7, 1994, Declaratory Ruling issued by the Labor Department and certain other statutory requirements are satisfied.

Statement of Purpose:

To standardize the regulation of messenger carrier services.
