AN ACT CONCERNING THE TERMS OF THE STATE POET LAUREATE AND THE STATE TROUBADOUR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Section 3-110f of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2018):

The [Department] Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, with recommendations of the Culture and Tourism Advisory Committee, [may appoint] shall designate, every three years, a state poet laureate. The commissioner may fill any vacancy by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term vacated.

Sec. 2. Section 3-110h of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2018):

There shall be an official state troubadour or trobairitz. The [Department] Commissioner of Economic and Community Development shall [biennially] designate, every three years, a troubadour or trobairitz to serve in the position. The commissioner may fill any vacancy by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term vacated.
