AN ACT CONCERNING A MORATORIUM ON NEW CHARTER SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-66bb of the 2014 supplement to the general statutes be amended to place a moratorium on the approval of new charter schools by the Commissioner of Education and that the appropriation to the Department of Education that was to be used for funding new charter schools be reduced and that the appropriation for the payment in lieu of taxes grant be increased.

Statement of Purpose:

To place a moratorium on the issuance of new charters for charter schools and to use the savings from such moratorium for the payments in lieu of taxes grant.
