AN ACT REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS VOTE FOR ANY TAX INCREASE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 16 of the general statutes be amended to require the approval by a vote of at least two-thirds of the members of each house of the General Assembly for the enactment of any bill proposing a tax increase.
Statement of Purpose:
To require a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly before taxes can be raised in order to limit the tax burden on state residents and businesses.
