AN ACT REDUCING THE TAX RATE APPLICABLE TO CERTAIN JEWELRY AND CLOTHING SALES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subparagraph (H) of subdivision (1) of section 12-408 of the general statutes be amended to reduce the rate of sales and use taxes on jewelry sales exceeding five thousand dollars and clothing sales exceeding one thousand dollars from seven and three-fourths per cent to seven per cent.
Statement of Purpose:
To revitalize consumer buying by reducing the sales tax on certain jewelry and clothing sales.
