Existing law, the State Aeronautics Act, governs various matters relative to aviation in the state, and authorizes the Department of Transportation to adopt, administer, and enforce rules and regulations for the administration of the act.
This bill would require the department, in coordination with the Office of Planning and Research and the State Air Resources Board, to establish an advisory committee, to be known as the Advance Advanced Air Mobility and Aviation Electrification Committee, to assess, among other things, pathways for feasible implementation of electrification goals for the aviation industry. The bill would provide for the appointment of the
membership of the committee. The bill would require the committee to report, not later than January 1, 2025, to the department and the Legislature on the committee’s findings and recommendations, as specified.
