CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2017–2018 REGULAR SESSION

Senate Bill No. 1467

Introduced by Senator Wilk

February 16, 2018

An act to amend Section 1170.4 of the Penal Code, relating to sentencing.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 1467, as introduced, Wilk. Criminal procedure: Judicial Council: sentencing practices.
Existing law requires the Judicial Council to seek to promote uniformity in sentencing by the adoption of rules providing criteria for the consideration of the trial judge at the time of sentencing regarding the court’s decision to, among other acts, grant or deny probation, or impose concurrent or consecutive sentences. Existing law requires the Judicial Council to collect and analyze relevant information relating to sentencing practices in this state and other jurisdictions, and to take that information into consideration in the adoption of those rules.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to the provision requiring the Judicial Council to collect and analyze relevant information relating to sentencing practices.
