An act to amend Section 27156.2 of the Vehicle Code, relating to emergency vehicles.

Emergency vehicles: exhaust systems: exemptions.
Existing law generally requires a motor vehicle to be equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device. Existing law exempts specified emergency vehicles from this requirement.
This bill would also exempt specified emergency vehicles used by a community college, police academy, fire academy, or similar facility solely for the training of emergency response personnel.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 27156.2 of the Vehicle Code is amended to read:27156.2.
(a) Notwithstanding any other(b) Subdivision (a) shall also apply to any emergency vehicle used by a community college, public safety training facility, police or fire academy, or emergency medical technician or paramedic training program solely for the purpose of preservice or in-service training of police, fire, EMS, or other emergency response personnel.
