   An act to amend Section 6502.7 of the Government Code, relating to
joint powers.

   SB 1254, as introduced, Morrell. Joint powers: authorization.
   Existing law authorizes 2 or more public agencies that have the
authority to identify, plan for, monitor, control, regulate, dispose
of, or abate liquid, toxic, or hazardous wastes or hazardous
materials, by agreement, to form a joint powers authority to exercise
any power common to the contracting parties.
   This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 6502.7 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
   6502.7.  (a) If authorized by their legislative or other governing
bodies, two or more public agencies  which  
that  have the authority to identify, plan for, monitor,
control, regulate, dispose of, or abate liquid, toxic, or hazardous
wastes or hazardous materials may, by agreement, jointly exercise any
of these powers common to the contracting parties.
   (b) The contracting parties may provide special services,
including persons specially trained, experienced, expert, and
competent to perform these special services.
