An act to add Section 6727 to the Government Code, relating to state observances.

AB 88, as introduced, Nazarian. Nowrūz Day.
Existing law requires the Governor to proclaim various days in honor of a person, status, or an event.
This bill would require the Governor annually to proclaim the day of the astronomical Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 20 or the following day, as Nowrūz Day.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 6727 is added to the Government Code, to read:

6727.
 The Governor shall annually proclaim the day of the astronomical Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 20 or the following day, as Nowrūz Day.
