An act to amend Section 25177 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to hazardous waste.

AB 2511, as introduced, Cristina Garcia. Hazardous waste.
The hazardous waste control laws require the Department of Toxic Substances Control to regulate the handling and management of hazardous waste and hazardous materials. Existing law authorizes the department to report findings and results of an investigation that the department undertakes pertaining to subject matter governed by the hazardous waste control laws and to publish reports summarizing or containing any order of the Director of Toxic Substances Control or any judgment or court order that has been rendered pursuant to the hazardous waste control laws, including the nature of the charge and its disposition.
This bill would instead require the department to post those findings, results, and reports on the department’s internet website.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 25177 of the Health and Safety Code is amended to read:

25177.
 The department may report shall post on its internet website findings and results of an investigation which that the department undertakes pertaining to subject matter governed by this chapter, except for trade secrets as provided in Section 25173. The department may distribute such this information as it considers necessary for the protection of the public or for the protection of human health, domestic livestock, wildlife, and the environment and to ensure the best use of natural resources. The department may publish shall post on its internet website reports summarizing or containing any order of the director or any judgment or court order which that has been rendered pursuant to this chapter, including the nature of the charge and its disposition.
