Existing law establishes the California Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program, administered by the State Department of Education, with the purpose of encouraging, maintaining, and strengthening the delivery of high-quality career technical education programs, as specified. Existing law establishes the Strong Workforce Program to provide funding to career technical education regional consortia made up of community college districts and local educational agencies, as specified.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact future legislation to create a new competitive grant program to increase the enrollment of descendants of slavery in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including green technology, related career technical education programs at the high school and college
levels.
