   An act to amend Section 56244 of the Education Code, relating to
special education.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1923, as introduced, Mendoza. Special education: staff
development.
   Existing law requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction, to
the extent possible using federal and state funds appropriated for
this purpose, to provide staff development to child care center staff
and family day care providers to improve child care services to
individuals with exceptional needs.
   This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to this provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 56244 of the Education Code is amended to read:

   56244.  The  superintendent   Superintendent
 shall, to the extent possible using federal and state funds
appropriated for this purpose, provide staff development to child
care center staff and family day care providers to improve child care
services to individuals with exceptional needs.
