Existing law provides for the supervision of persons discharged from the Division of Juvenile Facilities and from county juvenile facilities by county probation departments and provides funds to the counties for that purpose.
This bill would require every county, after consultation county to convene a working group with stakeholders, to establish at least one discuss and assess what resources are needed for the creation or support of a juvenile transition center in
the county that would provide housing and services to youth upon release from juvenile correctional facilities. The bill would require the centers to provide temporary transitional housing and other specified services to participants. The bill would require counties to implement the program only to the extent that funds are available from the state or other sources.
This bill would declare that it is to take effect immediately as an urgency statute.
