AN ACT

 

Amending title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 38-451; relating to official acts.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 38-451, to read:

START_STATUTE38-451. Public officers; publication, resource or public service announcements; restriction; definitions

A. For any publication, resource or public service announcement that is issued by a public officer and that is distributed free of charge or through the use of taxpayer resources, the public officer may not include in the announcement the public officer's name or likeness but may use the name of the public officer's office.

B. For the purposes of this section:

1. "Public officer" has the same meaning prescribed in section 38-541 and includes local public officer as defined in section 38-541.

2. "PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT" MEANS ANY audio, video, DIGITAL OR PRINT MESSAGE that is Distributed TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT A TOPIC OF PUBLIC INTEREST. END_STATUTE
