AN ACT

 

requiring an economic impact analysis of palo verde nuclear generating station.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Palo Verde nuclear generating station; economic impact analysis; delayed repeal

A.  On or before January 31, 2020, the Arizona commerce authority shall conduct an analysis of the economic impact of the Palo Verde nuclear generating station on the state's economy and tax base.  The analysis must include all of the following:

1.  The amount of property and sales tax revenue generated by the generating station.

2.  The economic impact on the local jurisdictions, including school districts, community college districts and career technical education districts, that receive revenue generated by the generating station.

3.  An estimate of the impact of the generating station on the state's economy, including economic activity that results from the generating station's workforce, contractors and suppliers.

B.  The Arizona commerce authority shall submit the analysis to the governor, the president of the senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, the chairperson of the senate natural resources and energy committee and the chairperson of the house of representatives natural resources, energy and water committee and provide a copy of this analysis to the secretary of state.

C.  This section is repealed from and after September 30, 2020.
