SENATE BILL 1191

 

 

AN ACT

 

providing for a temporary moratorium on the requirement of obtaining a passing score on standardized tests in order to graduate from high school.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Tests required for high school graduation; passing score; moratorium

A.  Notwithstanding any other law, a pupil is not required to obtain a passing score on a standardized test during the 2014-2015 school year, 2015‑2016 school year, the 2016‑2017 school year or the 2017‑2018 school year in order to graduate from high school.

B.  Subsection A of this section does not apply to the civics portion of the naturalization test under section 15-701.01, Arizona Revised Statutes.

Sec. 2.  Emergency

This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
