AN ACT

 

Amending Title 36, chapter 21.1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-2224.01; relating to emergency medical services.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 36, chapter 21.1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-2224.01, to read:

START_STATUTE36-2224.01. Rural areas; emergency medical situations; patient transportation

Notwithstanding any other law, in rural areas of a county with a population of less than five hundred thousand persons, a fire department or fire district may provide ambulance service to transport a patient in an emergency medical situation regardless of whether the fire department or fire district has a certificate of necessity issued pursuant to article 2 of this chapter for the area.
