A Resolution
on the death of theodore "teddy" castro.

Theodore "Teddy" Castro passed away at the age of forty-eight on March 21, 2022. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 21, 1973, he graduated from Maryvale High School in 1992.
A longtime champion for homeownership, Mr. Castro was a real estate agent for over twenty years. He was the designated broker and partner for Nexgen Real Estate, one of the largest independently owned Latino companies in Arizona. Mr. Castro was also a 2015 graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute, where he learned from experts and other Latino business owners how to inspire and made meaningful connections with his community.
A member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) since 2009, Mr. Castro believed in its mission to advocate for sustainable homeownership and the importance of building generational wealth within the Hispanic community. Mr. Castro was a founding member of the NAHREP Greater Phoenix chapter in 2015 and served in its leadership, including as secretary, vice president and, in 2019, president. In 2020, the NAHREP Greater Phoenix chapter gained national success as the Chapter of the Year, beating out over one hundred other chapters across the country, which was a direct result of his hard work and dedication.
Mr. Castro campaigned for election to the Arizona House of Representatives and as a school board member because he believed in supporting education standards and fair learning opportunities for all children. He worked tirelessly to expand his grassroots organization, We Heart Community, which supports underserved schools and students by fundraising for playground equipment, clothing and school supplies to ensure underprivileged children are afforded the same educational experience as any other child. For over twenty years he coached youth sports to help develop young athletes for success by teaching them character and teamwork. His driving goals and aspirations were to offer a pathway for the underserved to have opportunities in education, in business, for homeownership and for wealth by partnering with community leaders, businesses, financial institutions and elected officials from local and national levels.
Passionate and loyal, his friends say Mr. Castro lit up the room and made everyone feel welcome. He showed them that with ambition and endless aspiration, anything can be achieved. His gentle, kind spirit and infectious smile will never be forgotten.
A devoted father of three, Mr. Castro will be missed by his two daughters, Victoria and Jaedyn, his son, Teddy Jr., his grandson, Quentin, and his parents, Alice Cortes and Dan Castro.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona:
That the Members of the House of Representatives sincerely regret the passing of Teddy Castro and extend their most sincere sympathies to his family and many friends.
