A CONCURRENT MEMORIAL

urging the united states president and congress to take action to assist in the job recruitment of veterans.

(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)

To the President and Congress of the United States:

      Your memorialist respectfully represents:

Whereas, contract sites stipulate that employees must comply with various security parameters; and

Whereas, some military personnel already possess the minimum requisite security clearances to execute contracts; and

Whereas, there is currently no mechanism in place that provides for the active and immediate recruitment of newly discharged military personnel by companies to fill contract vacancies under Defense Information System Agency contracts; and

Whereas, providing newly discharged veterans with the opportunities to perform in the private sector the jobs they held while in the military and to use the skills they developed during their military service would serve to ease the difficult transition to civilian life that many veterans face; and

Whereas, Arizona is home to various corporations, such as the Diné Development Corporation and its subsidiaries, owned by the Navajo Nation, that seek a mechanism to provide for the recruitment of newly discharged military personnel to fill contract vacancies under Defense Information System Agency contracts and that have demonstrated a capacity to compete for information service contracts.

Wherefore your memorialist, the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring, prays:

      1.  That the President and Congress of the United States take action to create appropriate mechanisms to assist in recruiting all veterans, including Navajo and American Indian veterans, into jobs that are provided by corporations, such as the Diné Development Corporation, and that require security clearances that are already possessed by military personnel.

      2.  That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit a copy of this Memorial to the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and each Member of Congress from the State of Arizona.
