HOUSE BILL 2640

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

Amending title 9, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 9-500.33; amending title 11, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 11-224; amending title 41, chapter 7, article 10.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-1279.08; relating to governmental investigations.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 9, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-500.33, to read:

START_STATUTE9-500.33.  Investigation of city or town; auditor general approval

if the governing body of a city or town calls for an investigation of the city or town or any department of the city or town, the governing body shall not use an investigator that has not been approved by the auditor general. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Title 11, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 11-224, to read:

START_STATUTE11-224.  Investigation of county or county department; independent third party

if the board of supervisors calls for an investigation of the county or any county department, the board shall contract with a licensed independent third party to conduct the investigation.  the auditor general shall select the licensed independent third party investigator. END_STATUTE

Sec. 3.  Title 41, chapter 7, article 10.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-1279.08, to read:

START_STATUTE41-1279.08.  Investigation of state agency; independent third party

if this state calls for an investigation of an agency, board or commission, the agency, board or commission shall contract with a licensed independent third party to conduct the investigation.  the auditor general shall select the licensed independent third party investigator. END_STATUTE
