AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-505; relating to teachers.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-505, to read:

START_STATUTE15-505.  Substitute teachers; notification; definition

A.  On the fifteenth, thirtieth, sixtieth and ninetieth consecutive days that instruction in a classroom or a course is provided by a substitute teacher, the principal of the school shall notify the parents of pupils who are assigned to that classroom or enrolled in that course that the instruction is being provided by a substitute teacher.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "substitute teacher" means a person who either does not hold a certificate issued by the state board of education or who holds a substitute certificate or an emergency substitute certificate issued by the state board of education. END_STATUTE
