AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 4, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-446; relating to school district boundary provisions.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 4, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-446, to read:

START_STATUTE15-446.  School districts; unification required by July 1, 2018

Notwithstanding any other law, each school district in this state shall be a unified school district on or before July 1, 2018.END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Unification of existing school districts; transition plan

The governing board of each school district that is not a unified school district on the effective date of this act shall develop a transition plan within ninety days after the effective date of this act to comply with the requirements of this act on or before July 1, 2018. 

Sec. 3.  Conforming legislation

The legislative council staff shall prepare proposed legislation conforming the Arizona Revised Statutes to the provisions of this act for consideration in the fifty‑fourth legislature, first regular session.
