Summary

The purpose of this bill is to modernize the licensure and regulation of physician assistants by the West Virginia Board of Medicine. It permits physician assistant to obtain licensure prior to finding employment, prohibits physician assistants from practicing without an approved practice agreement on file with the board and authorizes physician assistants to practice in emergency situations and under volunteer licenses/endorsements. The bill does not modify in any way the established scope of practice for physician assistants.
