Summary

The purpose of this bill is to create the "Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act." The bill makes legislative findings, sets forth labeling requirements regarding the sale of foods containing genetically engineered materials or foods produced with genetically engineered materials. The bill also provides for exceptions, testing, civil penalties and civil suits by the Commissioner of Agriculture and suits by citizens. The bill further defines terms and provides rulemaking authority.
