A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of a municipality to prohibit the raising |
|
|
or keeping of hens. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 217, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subchapter D to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER D. MISCELLANEOUS REGULATORY AUTHORITY |
|
|
Sec. 217.061. MUNICIPAL REGULATION OF HENS. |
|
|
Notwithstanding any other law, a municipality may not adopt or |
|
|
enforce an ordinance, rule, or other measure that prohibits the |
|
|
raising or keeping of hens. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
