A RESOLUTION
Declaring Kiwanis Weekend in Ohio, August 8-10, 2014.

       WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to designate August 8-10, 2014, as Kiwanis Weekend in Ohio; and

       WHEREAS, Kiwanis International is made up of volunteers who perform service projects that benefit people of all ages, including investing in children, sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, mentoring the disadvantaged, caring for the sick, and developing youth leadership, and it has more than 8,500 clubs in 80 countries, including more than 240 clubs in Ohio with more than 8,200 members. The Ohio District of Kiwanis International has achieved a remarkable record of service to the state, and on August 8-10, 2014, it is holding its annual convention in Columbus. This event has become known as Kiwanis Weekend in Ohio, and its success is a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the district itself but also on its dedicated members, for these individuals have certainly distinguished themselves as conscientious and hard-working Ohioans; and

       WHEREAS, Over the years, the Ohio District of Kiwanis International has enhanced the quality of life within the state, and through its generous contributions, it has earned the respect and gratitude of the many citizens it has so capably served. We are certain that as this worthy group maintains its unfaltering dedication to service, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been the hallmark of its parent organization; and

       WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unceasing efforts of organizations such as the Ohio District of Kiwanis International that Ohio has gained a reputation as a state that is responsive to the needs of its citizens and has remained a pleasant place in which to live and work. It is truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, designate August 8-10, 2014, as Kiwanis Weekend in Ohio; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Kiwanis Club of Dublin.
