A RESOLUTION

Honoring Nate Beeler on winning the 2014 John Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Nate Beeler on receiving the 2014 John Fischetti Award from the American Society of News Editors and the Associated Press Media Editors; and

       WHEREAS,  Named for a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist whose work appeared in the New York Herald Tribune, the Chicago Daily News, and the Chicago Sun-Times, the John Fischetti Award is presented each year for a single image that depicts a relevant social or political event. This prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to Nate Beeler, an editorial cartoonist for The Columbus Dispatch, for his piece showing Lady Liberty and Lady Justice embracing after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, and he is deserving of high praise; and 

       WHEREAS,  Nate Beeler is truly a remarkable individual, for he has combined civic concern and commitment with the utmost professionalism to become a dynamic force in the community. Through his decisive leadership, he has distinguished himself as a conscientious and hard-working Ohioan, and we are certain that he will continue to display the same unwavering dedication to service and achievement for which he has become known; and

       WHEREAS,  Willingly giving of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, Nate Beeler has striven to better the world around him, and he has earned the respect and esteem of all who know him. We are proud to note that it is through the unceasing efforts of people such as he that Ohio continues to prosper and remains a pleasant place in which to live; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Nate Beeler on his recent accolade and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Nate Beeler.
