A RESOLUTION
Honoring the late Lance Corporal Randy Michael Heck as the recipient of a 2013 Ohio Military Medal of Distinction.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio extend posthumous recognition to Lance Corporal Randy Michael Heck on being presented with an Ohio Military Medal of Distinction, May 21, 2013; and

       WHEREAS,  Randy Heck was a truly unforgettable man whose words and actions endeared him to everyone who knew him. A remarkable person who experienced joy, understood kindness and loyalty, and knew how to communicate his beliefs and share his strengths, he confronted challenges and faced adversity with an admirable spirit, and the legacy of care and commitment he established will surely live on; and 

       WHEREAS,  Randy Heck was a member of the United States Marine Corps, and he was serving his second tour of duty in Djibouti, South Africa, when he was killed in the line of duty. Clearly, he was devoted to our country, and the ultimate sacrifice that he made to defend the ideals of democracy will stand as a monument to his personal character. His valiant efforts were truly admirable; and

       WHEREAS,  America has remained strong through the efforts of people such as Randy Heck, who have demonstrated a commendable sense of duty, dedication to the noble principles of democracy, and love of country through exemplary military service. Indeed, his family and the citizens of Ohio and the United States can be proud that he helped preserve our nation's traditions of courage and excellence; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the late Lance Corporal Randy Michael Heck on receiving an Ohio Military Medal of Distinction; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Lance Corporal Randy Michael Heck.
