A BILL
To enact section 4503.434 of the Revised Code to 1
establish the "Distinguished Flying Cross" license 2
plate.3


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 4503.434 of the Revised Code be 4
enacted to read as follows:5

       Sec. 4503.434. (A) Any person who has been awarded the 6
distinguished flying cross may apply to the registrar of motor 7
vehicles for the registration of any passenger car, noncommercial 8
motor vehicle, recreational vehicle, or other vehicle the person 9
owns or leases of a class approved by the registrar. The 10
application shall be accompanied by such documentary evidence in 11
support of the award as the registrar shall require by rule. The 12
application may be combined with a request for a special reserved 13
license plate under section 4503.40 or 4503.42 of the Revised 14
Code.15

       Upon receipt of an application for registration of a motor 16
vehicle under this section; presentation of satisfactory evidence 17
documenting that the applicant is a recipient of the distinguished 18
flying cross; payment of the regular license fee as prescribed 19
under section 4503.04 of the Revised Code, any local motor vehicle 20
license tax levied under Chapter 4504. of the Revised Code, and 21
any applicable additional fee prescribed by section 4503.40 or 22
4503.42 of the Revised Code; and compliance with all other 23
applicable laws relating to the registration of motor vehicles, 24
the registrar shall issue to the applicant the appropriate motor 25
vehicle registration and a set of license plates and a validation 26
sticker, or a validation sticker alone when required by section 27
4503.191 of the Revised Code.28

       In addition to the letters and numbers ordinarily inscribed 29
on the license plates, the license plates shall contain an 30
illustration of the distinguished flying cross and be inscribed 31
with the words "DFC Medal recipient." The license plates shall 32
bear county identification stickers that identify the county of 33
registration by name or number.34

       (B) Sections 4503.77 and 4503.78 of the Revised Code do not 35
apply to license plates issued under this section.36

       (C) No person who is not a recipient of the distinguished 37
flying cross shall willfully and falsely represent that the person 38
is a recipient of the distinguished flying cross for the purpose 39
of obtaining license plates under this section. No person shall 40
permit a motor vehicle owned or leased by such person to bear 41
license plates issued under this section unless the person is 42
eligible to be issued such license plates.43
