     Prohibits service and sale in schools of food and beverage items labeled as not intended or recommended for children.

An Act concerning foods and beverages served or sold in schools and supplementing chapter 33 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  A food, snack, or beverage item that has a label indicating that the item is not intended or recommended for children shall not be served, sold, or given away as a free promotion in a public or nonpublic school or anywhere on school property.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides that a food, snack, or beverage item which has a label indicating that the item is not intended or recommended for children may not be served, sold, or given away as a free promotion in a public or nonpublic school or anywhere on school property.
