ENROLLED HOUSE BILL No. 5122
AN ACT to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled “An act to revise and consolidate the statutes relating to the organization and jurisdiction of the courts of this state; the powers and duties of the courts, and of the judges and other officers of the courts; the forms and attributes of civil claims and actions; the time within which civil actions and proceedings may be brought in the courts; pleading, evidence, practice, and procedure in civil and criminal actions and proceedings in the courts; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; to provide remedies and penalties for the violation of certain provisions of this act; to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with or contravening any of the provisions of this act; and to repeal acts and parts of acts,” by amending section 507 (MCL 600.507), as amended by 2009 PA 228.
The People of the State of Michigan enact:
Sec. 507. (1) The sixth judicial circuit consists of the county of Oakland and, except as otherwise provided in this section, has 19 judges.
(2) Subject to section 550, this circuit has 18 judges during the period beginning 12 noon, January 1, 2011 and ending 12 noon, January 1, 2015. The judgeship temporarily eliminated from this circuit during the period of January 1, 2011 to January 1, 2015 shall be the judgeship of a judge who is not eligible to run for reelection due to constitutional limitation on January 5, 2010. In the 2014 election, the initial term of office of the judgeship being restored shall be 8 years.
(3) Subject to section 550, this judicial circuit may have 1 additional judge beginning January 1, 2019.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless all of the following bills of the 97th Legislature are enacted into law:
(a) House Bill No. 5121.
(b) House Bill No. 5123.
(c) House Bill No. 5124.
(d) House Bill No. 5125.
This act is ordered to take immediate effect.
