| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dr. Janet Hagan Yanos of Oak Park, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 7, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Yanos was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February | ||||||
6 | 2, 1948; she attended St. Joseph Academy and was a member of | ||||||
7 | Our Lady of Angels Parish; she attended Ohio University and | ||||||
8 | married George Yanos on December 27, 1967; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dr. Yanos completed her Ph.D. in social work at | ||||||
10 | the University of Illinois at Chicago; she was a longtime | ||||||
11 | professor at Aurora University; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Yanos enjoyed exploring cuisines, weekly | ||||||
13 | dinners at New Rebozo, and gardening; she also enjoyed | ||||||
14 | traveling to the American southwest, Portugal, Puerto Rico, and | ||||||
15 | St. John in the United Staes Virgin Islands; she loved playing | ||||||
16 | the mandolin, art classes, and bluegrass music; she raised a | ||||||
17 | pair of turtles for 35 years; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Yanos was preceded in death by her parents and | ||||||
19 | her brother, Robert (Mildred) Hagan; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dr. Yanos is survived by her husband, George; her |

1 | daughter, Nora (Scott) Bowker; her grandchildren, Luke, Ryan, | ||||||
2 | and Julie; her sisters, Nancy (Ray Miller) Hagan and Claire | ||||||
3 | (Phil De Marne) Hagan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; | ||||||
4 | therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Dr. Janet Hagan Yanos, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
8 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Dr. Yanos as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
