Senator

Hatch

decades

service.

WHEREAS,
Jack
Hatch
came
to
Iowa
in
1968
as
a
young

college
student,
even
then
a
community
and
political

activist;
and
5
WHEREAS,
that
zeal
for
public
policy
and
public
6
service
led
him
to
seek
and
win
a
seat
in
the
House
7
of
Representatives
in
1984,
serving
a
total
of
10
8
years;
and
9
WHEREAS,
in
November
2002,
Senator
Hatch
was
first
10
elected
to
the
Senate,
and
in
January
2015,
he
will
11
conclude
his
third
Senate
term;
and
12
WHEREAS,
during
his
Senate
tenure,
Senator
Hatch
has
13
served
on
the
Committees
on
Appropriations;
Economic
14
Growth;
Human
Resources;
Labor
and
Business
Relations;
15
Local
Government;
and
State
Government;
and
as
chair
16
of
the
Health
and
Human
Services
Appropriations
17
Subcommittee;
and
18
WHEREAS,
both
in
his
public
career
and
private
life,
19
Senator
Hatch
has
been
a
tireless
advocate
regarding
20
public
health,
affordable
housing,
environmental,
and
21
human
services
issues;
and
22
WHEREAS,
Senator
Hatch
has
been
widely
recognized
23
for
his
advocacy
and
received
numerous
awards
relating
24
to
his
tireless
work
in
the
areas
of
child
and
family
25
services,
health
care
policy
and
leadership,
assisted
26
living
services,
and
community
advocacy;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
