A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Alana Burke; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Alana Burke has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced by her more than 16 years of superlative service as Executive Director for the Lincoln County Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce and her 15 years with the Classic South Travel Association Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Burke makes vital contributions to her fellow citizens and community by her involvement as a member of the Georgia Economic Development Association, the Central Savannah River Area Unified Development Authority, and the Clarks Hill Partnership of Georgia and as a board member for Augusta Technical College, the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Foothills Area Health Educational Center; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Burke is united in love and marriage to Bill Burke, and she has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, one son, and nine delightful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mrs. Alana Burke for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Alana Burke.
