SENATE BILL NO. 153

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE AND APPROVE THE TRANSFER BY THE TOWN OF KENTON TO VETERANS WATCHMAKER INITIATIVE CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN THE TOWN OF KENTON DESCRIBED IN KENT COUNTY RECORDER OF DEEDS BOOK F, VOLUME 30, PAGE 178



WHEREAS on May 16, 1975 Senate Bill 175 authorized the transfer of an abandoned school, Deed Book F, Volume 30, Page 178 ("the Property"), in the Smyrna School District to the Town of Kenton;

WHEREAS Senate Bill 175 and the deed required the Town of Kenton to use the property for "municipal purposes";

WHEREAS the Town of Kenton desires to transfer the property to Veterans Watchmaker Initiative, a non-profit ญญญญญญญญญ

organization whose mission is to educate veterans and to secure their futures.

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE (Three-Fourths of all members elected to each house thereof concurring therein):

Notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 94 of Title 29 of the Delaware Code or any provisions of any other laws or regulations to the contrary, the Town of Kenton is hereby authorized and empowered to execute and deliver to Veterans Watchmaker Initiative a good and sufficient deed to transfer and convey all that certain parcel described in Book F, Volume 30, Page 178 to be used for the purpose of the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative and to benefit veterans at the time of transfer or for municipal purposes.If the use of the property becomes inconsistent with the purposes authorized herein, the property shall revert to the Town of Kenton.

The Town of Kenton and the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative shall record this law with the recorded deed to the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative.


SYNOPSIS

This bill authorizes the Town of Kenton to transfer a parcel of land, previously transferred to the Town by the State, to the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative which aids veterans. If the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative does not use the property for its original purposes, the property will revert to the State.
