HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 70

RECOGNIZING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 12 THROUGH 18, 2014, AS THE INAUGURAL KENT COUNTY RESTAURANT WEEK.



WHEREAS, restaurants constitute a vital part of the economy of Kent County and the State of Delaware; and

WHEREAS, in 2013, tourism employed more than 5,300 people in Kent County, total impact to the county was $554.8 million, and two million travelers visited Kent County; and

WHEREAS, dining is the second highest ranked activity for tourists in the State, second only to shopping; and

WHEREAS, holding a Restaurant Week will serve to highlight the unique dining experiences in Kent County by featuring fresh seafood, quality meats and local "farm to fork" produce and fruits; and

WHEREAS, holding a Restaurant Week will serve to highlight the excellent work of our local small businesses; and

WHEREAS, a Restaurant Week will encourage local residents, Delawareans and visitors to visit any of the 100+ independent eateries in Kent County;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives of the 147th General Assembly, the Senate concurring therein, that we do hereby recognize the week of October 12-18th as the first annual Kent County Restaurant Week.

This concurrent resolution recognizes the week of October 12-18th as the inaugural Kent County Restaurant Week.
