DE SB168 | 2009-2010 | 145th General Assembly

Status

June 30 2009 - Introduced and Assigned to Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee in House
Pending: House Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee
Text: Latest bill text (Draft #1) [HTML]

Summary

This bill would create a safe-passing zone between a motor vehicle and a bicycle, when the motor vehicle is overtaking a bicycle traveling in the same direction. If a three-foot-wide passing space is not possible, then the driver of the motor vehicle is to slow down to increase the margin for passing safely beyond the bicycle. This bill is supported by the Delaware Bicycle Council, and is based on similar legislation in Rhode Island.
