A CONCURRENT Resolution
expressing gratitude to the Kai Family Foundation for its generous land donation for the State Veterans' Cemetery in Marana.
(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)
Whereas, more than half a million military veterans reside in the State of Arizona, including 135,000 who reside in Pima and surrounding counties; and
Whereas, there are currently only two open veterans' cemeteries in the State of Arizona: the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix and the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista; and
Whereas, the State of Arizona has long sought to properly honor men and women who have nobly served and sacrificed on our country's behalf; and
Whereas, the Kai Family Foundation generously donated thirty-two acres of land that had been in the Kai family since the 1940s to the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services on May 31, 2013; and
Whereas, this donated land has been instrumental in enabling the State of Arizona to establish the new State Veterans' Cemetery in Marana; and
Whereas, the new State Veterans' Cemetery in Marana is expected to provide inground burials, a columbarium and inground cremated remains burials to military veterans and their spouses for fifty years.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the Members of the Legislature warmly thank the Kai Family Foundation for its generous land donation for the State Veterans' Cemetery in Marana.
